Scholarly study which examines the early stages of telegraphic communication between Europe and America and China and Japan, and in particular the European share of this operation, in the years between 1870 and 1914 and the arrival wireless telegraphy. Not a history of the telegraph companies but rather the political and economic issues in relation to one another.
