George M Booth, 1877-1971, apart from leading Alfred Booth & Co Ltd from before 1914 to c1950s, had many other business interests, most notably as joint owner and chairman of White Drummond & Co whose subsidiary, Municipal & General Securities Ltd, (M&G) he developed as a pioneering unit trust management business [which is only briefly covered here]. He was son of Charles Booth, the prominent social scientist. This book is largely about his life outside business.
