The distillery was built by Alexander Edward in 1898 to produce malt whisky for blending. Shortly afterwards acquired by Wright & Greig Ltd, Glasgow blenders. Sold out to J P O'Brien & Co Ltd in c1916 who soon after were in liquidation. 1921 acquired by Benmore Distilleries Ltd who in 1928 were acquired by Distillers Co Ltd. Closed by DCL in 1983
