Mostly comprises a transcription of the journal [pp15-244] with introductory material. He started to write it in 1835 and stopped 1879. Provides much information about his business career - 'we read of the costs of various raw silks ..., the prices he was achieving for his throwing, his output and stocks of manufactured goods and, especially important, the effect on these of external events'. Also provides insights into the business of T & J Brocklehurst & Sons and the owning family. Also much about his own family and domestic life
