Largely a family history but touches on the history of the firm and their country house, Ashley Park, Walton on Thames. It aims to deal with the lives of the family members who lived in the house. Has 16 chapters either on specific individuals or on issues relating to them. The Sassoons bought the house from the Fletcher family, sometime merchants, in the early 1860s. Sassoon David, 1832-67, was the first to live there. The family sold the estate shortly after 1918 when the land was used for residential development.
