This pioneering and experimental health service was promoted to provide health care, emergency treatment, health and safety advice and education in health matters to the employees of participating businesses on the Slough Trading Estate. Chief promoters were Nuffield Foundation and Nuffield Provincial Hospital Trust (of which Sir Nigel Mobbs, leader of Slough Estates Ltd, was a trustee), and Slough Estates Ltd.
