Comprises an edited autobiography by Larkworthy, 1833-1928, with much about his early business career starting as a clerk in the Oriental Bank at Mauritius before moving to branches in Australia and New Zealand later in 1850s. c1861 involved in establishment of Bank of New Zealand and was its London manager, 1861-c1890. Also associated with this bank's interest in the New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Co Ltd. Otherwise a director of Commercial Union Assurance Co Ltd and the Ionian Bank (Chairman, 1898-1919), but these latter two businesses are hardly covered. Provides insight into all these businesses as well as commenting on Overend Gurney Crisis
