Describes the closure of newspaper printing operations, including the 'Scottish Daily Express', in Glasgow by the Beaverbrook Newspapers in 1974 and in particular the creation of a workers' co-operative to carrying forward newspaper production as the 'Scottish Daily News'; the government support received for this; the involvement of Robert Maxwell, Pergamon Press; failure of the operation in 1975
