Deals with the significance of female investors in three Scottish investment trusts, based in Dundee, in the 1870s and in particular in 1879-80 when these trusts were reconstructed. Examines the number of female investors, size of their investments in relation to those of men, and their marital status to find that wives and widows as well as single women played a significant role. The trusts were First Scottish American Investment Trust Ltd, Second American Investment Trust Ltd and Third Scottish American Investment Trust Ltd
