Notes:

Traced origins to Frederick Sage, d1899, who established his shopfitting business in 1860 in Hatton Garden, London. 1870 relocated to Gray's Inn Road. Incorporated as Frederick Sage & Co Ltd in 1905. Fitted out premises of leading businesses including department stores, banks, offices, etc, as well as building freestanding display cases, etc. Customers included Houses of Parliament, Harrods, Liberty & Co, etc. Royal warrant holders. Established works at Walton, Peterborough, in 1911 and in c1914-18 made military aircraft [especially seaplanes] and parts, etc, there. Reverted to shopfitting after war and the firm also established factories overseas. Sold Peterborough factory 1936 to Aeronautical Corp of Great Britain Ltd, makers of Aeronea, when ended their remaining aircraft interests. By then had long established additional works in north London. Reverted to aircraft manufacture 1939-45. 1968, when in decline, acquired by British Electric Traction Ltd and closed in due course [2024]
