Notes:

Traced origins to Ault & Wilborg of USA, established in 1878 to make printing inks and dry colour dyes and pigments. The latter business was sold to Ciba Geigy & Sandoz in 1920. Opened a UK branch in 1899 at Clerkenwell and in 1902 traded as Ault & Wilborg London Ltd. Developed large printing ink manufacturing plant. 1934 acquired by British owners when reorganised as Ault & Wilborg Ltd. Also developed a paint, varnish, etc, manufacturing business, especially making metal decoration products for the motor vehicle industry. Sometime converted to a public company and latterly known as Ault & Wilborg Group Plc
