Robert Gloag, d1891, is believed to have established the first UK cigarette factory in c1854 although in fact this may have been after 1860. Initially based at Deptford, later at Walworth. 1888-90 built major factory at Camberwell. By 1890s had developed into a major plant employing c350. From 1891 business carried forward by his son, Frederick. Closed c1930s
