Traced origins to James Fellows, d1854, who in 1837 established a canal carrying business at West Bromwich, moving to Tipton in 1841. c1876 known as Fellows Morton & Co and as Fellows Morton & Clayton Ltd from 1889. Expanded by acquisition of smaller canal carrying businesses. Also sometime built canal boats. In decline in 20th century and in liquidation 1947. Assets subsequently acquired by British Transport Commission
