Established c1906 by Paul Kuehnrich, 1871-1932, a German who arrived in Sheffield in c1889 where he joined Marsh Brothers and became important in their affairs. 1904 left to establish his own business, Sheffield Steelmakers Ltd, which was succeeded by Darwin & Milner Ltd in c1906. Under umbrella of this holding company established a wide range of steel and tool businesses. Developed specialist steels. Made a range of products, notably safety razors. 1961 merged with Arthur Balfour & Co Ltd
