Traced origins to Francis T Cooper, 1811-62, an Oxford grocer. Succeeded in business by his son, Frank, 1844-1927, in 1867, and who in c1874 started to make marmalade. c1903 opened a marmalade factory as Frank Cooper Ltd. Grocer's shop closed 1919. Held royal warrants from mid 19th century. 1964 acquired by Brown & Polson Ltd, owned by Corn Products Co Ltd (CPC Ltd). Subsequently sold on. Continues as a brand name
