Traced origins to Albert Francois, a Belgian, who was a pioneer of grouting via pumps in order to establish shafts for mines, foundations, etc. Established his business in 1910, patenting his cementation process in 1912. 1919 incorporated as Francois Cementation Co Ltd by South African mining interests who had acquired the patents, with Francois as manager. Initially based at Doncaster moving to nearby Bentley Works in 1922. By 1930s working throughout UK and overseas. 1941 renamed Cementation Co Ltd. 1956 relocated head office to London. 1970 acquired by Trafalgar House Ltd which in 1996 was acquired by Kvaerner of Norway. c2000 acquired by Skanska to become Cementation Skanska Ltd. By 1950s a leading gounding and piling business
