Moses Pitt, bc1639, was a London bookseller from the mid 1660s, based in Little Britain, City of London. His early trade was in books in Latin on science and mathematics. By 1670s had a thriving business and in 1678 leased a printing office at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford. Engaged in an ambitious project to print and published an English atlas. Also engaged in property speculation. By late 1680s in financial difficulties and imprisoned on account of his debts
