Robert Lucas Nash, 1818-71, was an early financial analyst but started out as a Bristol stockbroker until failure in 1846. From 1847 he published relatively sophisticated and pioneering financial analysis of railway companies, initially of Great Western Railway Co and Eastern Counties Railway Co. Wrote influential text for 'London Weekly Railway Share List' from late 1847. Published 'Money Market Examiner & Railway Review' from 1848. Predicted crisis in railway securities that occurred in 1849 and had a large impact on railway accounting
