John Buddle, 1773-1843, son of a leading coal viewer, John Buddle, 1743-1806, was in practice as a viewer himself by 1801. Became viewer and check viewer at many collieries both in the north east and elsewhere and provided advice to overseas owners. Worked notably for the Lambton family, Hetton Coal Co and especially for the Londonderry family collieries. Also held partnerships in many collieries, notably Stella Coal Co, and other businesses. Involved in building Seaham Harbour for Lord Londonderry
