Notes:

Traced origins to 1728 when Richard Fisher, c1705-70, set up as a carver at Ripon. Relocated to York by 1746. Emerged as leading carvers in wood and marble serving the aristocracy of Yorkshire and beyond. Made in particular chimney pieces and decorative carvings. Business was bankrupt in 1792, when led by John Fisher, but continued by the Fisher family until the late 19th century
