From early 1880s started to import meat from Australasia and Argentina, made possible by refrigerated ships. Opened depots and cold stores in large UK cities and relocated to London in 1892. 1904 incorporated. Early 1900s developed major interests in Australasian meat processing, dominating the trade with UK. Reconstructed 1927. By 1960s c50 UK branches, cold stores at London and Liverpool and 12 meat processing plant in Australia and New Zealand. c1970s converted to a public company.
