By 1864 had 15 branches (ie shops/tearooms) and 88 by 1871. 1891 production focused on Camden Road bakery which replaced eight bakeries around London. Chief competitor in London to J Lyons & Co Ltd. At its peak in 1923 had 150 branch shops and 250 tea shops. 1955 acquired by Allied Bakeries Ltd owned by Associated British Foods Ltd and subsequently subsumed into it
