(Sir) Edward Blount, 1809-1905, was established as a banker in Paris in c1830, forming Edward Blount Pere & Fils with support from his father in England. As Laffitte, Blount & Co from 1836, promoted the construction of French railways, notably the Paris to Rouen Railway and projects of Thomas Brassey, raising many funds from British investors. Failed 1848 and reformed 1852 as Edward Blount & Co with assistance of Thomas Brassey. Continued to promote and finance railways not just in France but also throughout western Europe and was a board member of several. 1870 transferred his business to the Société Générale de Paris of which he became chairman [2023]
