Notes:

William Billingsley, 1758-1828, was a leading decorator of porcelain and also, for long periods, owner and/or manager of porcelain factories. He won an outstanding reputation as porcelain painter at the Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Works before leaving in c1796 to join with John Coke in establishing Pinxton China Factory. In 1801 again moved on to establish short lived factories at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, and Torksey, Lincolnshire. 1813 established Nantgarw Pottery which traded as Billingsley & Walker. Encountered severe technical difficulties before shifting production to Cambrian Factory, Swansea, between 1814 and 1817. From 1808 in employment of Flight & Barr [Royal Worcester]
