Notes:

Traced origins to the Royal Greenwich Armoury established by Henry VIII in c1511 to make body armour, etc. Closed c1637 but revived late 1640s for light weight body armour. Revived again in 1807 when Board of Ordnance erected a small arms factory known as Royal Small Arms Factory which made gun parts. Production transferred to Enfield betweeen 1815 and 1822.
