Traces origins to 1858 when established by Charles Berisford, 1830-98, with his brothers William and Francis, to make silk ribbons at Victoria Mill. Known as Berisford Brothers. By 1880s had a London warehouse. 1891 known as Berisford & Birchenhall. Later also made woven labels. 1913 acquired R Thorp & Son, Macclesfield, smallwares makers. 1916 incorporated as Berisfords Ltd. From 1920s also using man made materials. Converted to public company in 1961. Subsequently acquired by Ferguson Group who sold ribbon and trimmings business to management. 1992 this business was acquired by Kuny Group of Switzerland. Continuing in 2012 as a world leading manufacturer of ribbons, bows and trimmings
