Notes:

Established by William Tomlinson in 1736 and soon developed into an extensive ironworks making, inter alia, nails and, at end of 18th century, iron rods and hoops. By 1822 making railway rails for Stockton to Darlington Railway. Operated variously by Hawks & Longridge, Malings & Co, Bedlington Iron Co, etc. Latterly also made railway locomotives. Closed 1867
