George Baxter, 1804-67, was a printer and publisher who perfected the colour printing process in 1829 for which he received great popular acclaim. From mid 1830s produced a substantial output of prints, decorated music sheets, pocket books, etc. From mid 1850s experience damaging competition and was bankrupt in 1865
