Established 1901 as Mica Insulator Co Ltd by Arthur and Edward Berkeley to distribute Micanite products of US manufacturer. Soon started to manufacture own products at Stoke Newington, London, before relocating to Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. Made insulation material for wiring, etc, and emerged as leaders in electrical insulation. Relocated to Walthamstow, London, 1902. 1906 renamed Micanite & Insulators Ltd. Late 1920s connected with Associated Electrical Industries Ltd (AEI) and English Electric Co Ltd. 1939 established British Tego Gluefilm Ltd as a joint venture. 1958 part owned by Associated Electrical Industries
