Traced origins to 1877 when established as a veneer cutting business at Shoreditch by (Sir) William Mallinson, 1854-36. Later developed as leading timber merchants, importers and machinists. From 1893 known as William Mallinson & Co and, shortly afterwards, as William Mallinson & Son. Established branches at Rotterdam in 1910 and Paris in 1912. Incorporated 1913. From 1914-18 especially involved in production of plywood and developed a wood products manufacturing business at Crayford. 1937 converted to a public company. 1969 merged with Denny Mott & Dickinson to form William Mallinson & Denny Mott Ltd
