Established in 1757 by James Latham as hardwood timber importers. Transferred to London by end of 18th century. Incorporated 1900 and subsequently grew rapidly with major plant established at Clapton. Developed strong interests in timber growing in Nigeria and in plywood and veneer trades, acquiring Edward Graefe Ltd of High Wycombe in c1939.
