Notes:

Traced origins to C W Waterlow, a joinery and building business at Finsbury, which in 1859 became Clerihew & Lascelles. Owned outright by W H Lascelles from 1861 when known as Bunhill Row Steam Joinery. Diversified into furniture production, especially for state schools, after 1870. Innovator in use of concrete in construction from mid 1870s. On Lascelles's death in 1885, the business, now known as W H Lascelles & Co and located at London and Croydon, was continued by his brother, Thomas.
