Established 1905 in London by Max Kleeman to import celluloid fancy goods, especially combs and hairslides. 1914 known as O & M Kleemann (sic). 1920s became a major importer of fancy goods. Started to manufacture plastic fancy goods at Welwyn Garden City in 1938 and in early 1950s at Aycliffe, County Durham. Also made plastic and plastic moulds. Public company from 1946.
