Traces origins to 1896 when James G Accles, formerly a gunsmith, established Accles Ltd as a general engineering business. Early on made bicycles and other engineering goods but soon focused on production of tubes, many for specialist use, for example in aircraft, sports goods, furniture, etc. 1901 known as Accles & Pollock Ltd. 1919 merged with Tubes Ltd, Simplex and Credenda to form Tube Investments Ltd but continued as a separate entity. Over years developed stainless steel unit and divested some activities to other TI units. 1996 acquired by Hays Hall Group and subsequently other owners. 2001 ended tube manufacture to focus on tube manipulation for wide range of industries. Continues in 2012 as part of Caparo Group
