Established 1791 by Archibald Kenrick, 1760-1835, formerly a buckle maker, who then established an iron foundry making wide range of goods for domestic and building use, eg nails, door furniture and coffee mills. Diversified into tinned hollowware especially cooking utensils, etc, which benefited from technical innovation, especially in enamelling. Developed as a major hardware business. Incorporated 1883 when one of two largest businesses in their field. Acquisitions included Anglo American Tin Stamping Co, Baldwin Son & Co Ltd and Birmingham Hollowware Co. Gave up hollowware production 1950s. Subsequently focused on builders' and domestic ironmongery and were especially noted for castor production. Continues
