Traced origins to J A Kenrick, of Archibald Kenrick & Sons Ltd, and F T Jefferson, a solicitor, who in late 1870s acquired the West Bromwich based The Free Press which was sold in 1933. Both were leading local Liberal Party supporters. Also started a jobbing printing business and opened a stationery retail business. 1880s changed name from The Free Press to Kenrick & Jefferson. Also published Labour Tribune, 1886-94, the first national labour newspaper. Developed as a leading stationery/printing business, latterly specialising in envelopes from c1900. Incorporated 1900. From 1920s opened overseas agencies. 1999 acquired by Curtis 1000 Europe AG
