Notes:

Traced its early origins to Janet Keiller in the 1760s but generally regarded as being established in 1797 at Dundee by James Keiller, 1775-1839, as a confectionery business. 1800 started to manufacture marmalade and by 1830s its output was sold nationwide. Known as James Keiller & Sons from 1830s. 1870s established a factory on Guernsey on account of UK import duties and lower labour costs. Relocated Channel Islands operations to Silvertown, London, in 1880s. Made jams, confectionery, etc, in spring and summer when marmalade not made. Incorporated 1893. 1899 control of business passed to Boyd family. 1920s acquired by Crosse & Blackwell [2023]
