Traced origins to the wine importing business established by Giacomo Justerini in 1749. By 1752 known as Johnson & Justerini. From 18th century royal warrant holders. 1830 acquired by Alfred Brooks and in 1876 sold to William H Cole. 1900 incorporated as Justerini & Brooks Ltd. Developed whisky distilling interests and well known J&B whisky brand. Acquired numerous other wine and spirit businesses. 1952 merged with Twiss & Browning & Hallowes to form United Wine Traders. 1962 acquired Corney & Barrow. 1962 merged with W & A Gilbey Ltd and others to form International Distillers & Vintners Ltd. Continues as leading wine merchants with royal warrant
