Traces origins to late 18th century when located in Clerkenwell and traded as importers of annatto seeds and manufacturers of annatto. Established by Matthew Fullwood initially in partnership with Richard Jackson. By 1830s known as Fullwood Brothers and in 1835 renamed R & W Fullwood Bland & Co when selling wide range of specialist produce - arrowroot, mustard, coloured sauces, lozengers, etc, as well as rennet. 1880s renamed R J Fullwood & Bland. 1885 acquired assets of Universal Cheese Manufacturing Co and in 1906 acquired Xavier Castelli, annatto manufacturers, followed in 1908 by John Gilbert Mellor of Warwick. By 1895 focused exclusively on annatto and rennet manufacture. 1938 incorporated as R J Fullwood & Bland Ltd. From c1930s made machinery for milking cattle. Continues in 2010
