Traces origins to London in 1809. By mid 19th century making gas lamps and fittings from brass, later extending to fittings for oil lighting and electricity. Early on known as Richard Evered & Son and subsequently incorporated in 1874 as Evered & Co Ltd. 1860 established manufacturing plant at Birmingham and, in 1866, another at Smethwick. By end of 19th century speciality was brass bedsteads and cots and in 20th century, as general brassfounders, made a wide range of brass fittings. Between wars manufacturing focused at Smethwick. 1991 merged with Barker & Allen and Mapplebeck Metals to form EIP Metals Ltd. 2005 acquired by Norddeutche Affinerie AG and renamed Aurubis UK Ltd
