Traced origins to 1882 when formed as Electric Power Storage Co Ltd to manufacture accumulators, dry cells, batteries, etc, for trams, etc. Acquired numerous UK and other patents. Acquired in c1889 by the Electric Construction Corp Ltd [which was later reconstructed as Electric Construction Co Ltd and wound up in 1904] which was formed to effect the merger of EPS and other companies. Further reconstructions followed resulting in the formation in 1889 of Foreign & Colonial Electrical Power Storage Co which was renamed, Electrical Power Storage Co Ltd in 1891 It subsequently amalgamated to form Pritchett & Gold & Electrical Power Storage Co Ltd
