Traced origins John F Eastwood who by 1813 was established as a sand, lime and builders' merchant at Lambeth, London. From 1830 led by Jane Eastwood and subsequently by John & William Eastwood. By mid century had developed a significant barge building and owning business in support of the merchanting activities. 1880s led a merger with five brickmaking businesses - Edward F Quilter of Suffolk, Joseph E Butcher of Frindsbury, Josiah Jackson of Shoebury, Charles Richardson of Vauxhall and John Woods of Singlewell. 1902 known as Eastwoods Co Ltd. Connected with William Lee, Son & Co Ltd , cement manufacturers of Malling from 1904 when known as Lee & Eastwood Ltd. Reorganised c1915 as Eastwoods Ltd by when a major brick, cement, etc, making business with several plant in southern England, notably Kent . Also developed a major coal merchanting business as Hoare Gothard & Bond Ltd. 1945 again reorganised. 1963 acquired by Redland Group
