Earls Court had been established as an exhibition centre in mid 1930s by Earls Court Ltd. It opened 1937 and became a leading centre for nationally focused exhibitions. Formerly the site had been used for general entertainment including exhibitions in an open arena. Olympia was established as National Agricultural Hall Co Ltd in 1884 and opened in 1886. In 1912 it was acquired by Olympia (1912) Ltd and in 1929 by Olympia Ltd controlled by the financier, Philip E Hill. By 1973 both centres were owned by Earls Court & Olympia Ltd, controlled by Sterling Guarantee Trust Ltd. Sold on and after 2000 demolished and area redeveloped for exhibition use and housing
