Traced origins to 1871 when Joseph Dean established a travel agency at Stockport, Dean & Dawson. From this soon diversified into printing to support the agency. Dean also had many other business interests including some in the leather trade. Acted as local agent of the Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway Co. Subsequently the travel agency was acquired by Thomas Cook and printing interests were continued by Deanprint Ltd, established 1890, which continues in 2012
