Traces origins to 1788 when Joseph Angus operated a leather business at Newcastle. By 1810 leather dressers and manufacturers of leather products. 1843 started to work in rubber. 1875 established a leather trading business at Liverpool which subsequently moved to London and closed in 1945. 1888 incorporated as a public company. Made in particular leather belting, hose, protective clothing, seals, etc. 1968 acquired by Dunlop Rubber Co Ltd. Subsequently numerous owners. Continues as Angus Fire
