Traced origins to Thomas Crapper, 1836-1910, who was established in Chelsea as a plumber by 1861. Designed and improved sanitary equipment. Installed systems and operated foundry, later called Marlborough Works, for manufacture of sanitary equipment/fittings, etc. Also had showrooms and took out several registered designs / patents. Major suppliers of sanitary ware to Crappers were Thomas Twyford of Hanley, Sharpe Brothers & Co, Swadlincote, Derbyshire, and Humpherson & Co of Chelsea. Late 19th and early 20th centuries royal warrant holders. Crapper retired in 1904 when business was continued in Chelsea by his business partner, Robert M Wharam. 1853-1942. 1963, when in decline, acquired by John Bolding & Sons Ltd. Subsequent owners revived the business name after 2000 following dormancy
