Established at Coventry in 1913 by (Sir) Harry Harley as Walter Tatlow. Renamed Coventry Gauge & Tool Co Ltd in 1920 and converted to a public company 1928. Made machine tools, clutches and brakes for machine tools, industrial power transmission equipment, printing machinery, etc. 1939 set up a shadow factory at Brechin, Angus. Matrix became its brandname. 1969 acquired by Tube Investments Ltd and subsequently renamed Matrix Engineering Ltd and, in 1979, TI Matrix Engineering Ltd
