Iron production at Coneygre was first established in 1625 and was long associated with the Earls of Dudley as owners of the land and sometime of the plant. By 1796 furnace was operated by Z Parkes & Co and from 1826 by George Parker. By 1834 a foundry had been added. From 1839 worked by Lord Dudley. 1896 iron making given up when production focused on castings for use on Dudley's estates and in his industrial businesses, eg coal mining. 1925 given up by Dudleys when acquired by Coneygre Foundry Ltd when focused on making small castings - cylinder blocks, brake drums, etc - for emergent new industries, eg motor vehicles. 1937 acquired by Birmid Industries Ltd, later known as Birmid Qualcast Ltd
