Planned from c1910 by William Baird & Co Ltd, Coatbridge, a coal and iron ore mining and iron production business, its infrastructure was completed just before the declaration of war, 1914. On account of a local labour shortage, controversially German Prisoners of War formed much of its workforce by 1916. Noted on account of strike by local workers in 1917 because of low pay. Closed 1918. Demolished 1942 when some plant was shipped to other locations for reuse
