Notes:

Established in 1870s by Thomas Carruthers, 1840-1924, who then was a dairy keeper and golf shop owner in Edinburgh. By 1880s made golf clubs at his shop before establishing a workshop nearby. 1890 patented a range of short socket clubs which were hugely successful leading also to a large wholesaling and exporting business. Late 1890s established a golf clubhouse at Braid Hills. Wound up manufacturing in 1906 and 1946 his sons sold golfhouse to Braids Tryst Ltd
